Sparkwell Golf Course
Find it: neighbouring Fairway Gardens, Sparkwell PL7 5DF
This testing 9-hole course was designed and built in the grounds of Welbeck Manor house in 1993 and offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and moors. After your round, you can relax and enjoy a coffee and slice of cake in the surroundings of the beautiful Welbeck Manor Hotel. Sparkwell enjoys a reputation for being one of the friendliest golf courses in Devon, supporting members to integrate into every section of the club.

Dartmoor Zoo
Find it: Less than half a mile from Sparkwell, PL7 5DG
The zoo that inspired the Hollywood film ‘We Bought a Zoo’ nestles in 33 acres of woodland on the egde of Sparkwell village with far-reaching views across Dartmoor. The conservation charity boasts a varied range of exotic and native animals, including the biggest variety of big cats in the south west. Free animal talks take place around the zoo every day, freshly prepared food is available in the on-site restaurant all year round, and Sparkwell residents even receive free admission.

Saltram House, National Trust
Find it: 6 miles from Sparkwell, Plympton, Plymouth PL7 1UH
Saltram House, home to the Parker family from 1743, is a magnificently decorated mansion with original contents including Chinese wallpapers and an exceptional collection of paintings. The 19th century garden boasts a working orangery and follies, beautiful shrubberies and specimen trees providing year-round interest.
