Sale of showhome furniture raises thousands for six charities

The Exeter-based developer of new homes exclusively for the over 55s, Blue Cedar Homes, has raised almost £4,000 for six charities by auctioning off ex-showhome furniture to staff as well as donating furniture to charities to sell.

The funds raised by staff from the sale of furniture from a range of showhomes across Blue Cedar Homes’ sites in Devon, Cornwall, Oxfordshire and The Cotswolds, will be shared between the British Heart Foundation, Parkinson’s UK and Alzheimer’s Society.

In addition Blue Cedar Homes has also donated furniture items directly to charities for them to sell and use. Furniture beneficiaries include British Heart Foundation, who sold items raising £1262.15, FORCE Cancer Charity, which raised £317.53 from furniture items, and Hospiscare, which raised £245.51. Exeter Guide Dogs has also received a furniture donation from Blue Cedar Homes’ which has been used to transform a room into a more homely place for their dogs to use.

With a surplus of over 100 luxury furniture items from their various developments, including everything from beds, sofas, and dining tables, to lighting, home accessories and soft furnishings, Blue Cedar Homes was pleased to offer up the furniture items to their staff in exchange for a charitable donation and directly to the charities for them to sell on to those who need it.

The monies raised will help the charities to continue their vital work. Notably, this will help to fund more groundbreaking research against heart and circulatory diseases, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s; diseases and neurological conditions which all greatly affect the over 55s.

Lauren England-Shepherd, Sales and Marketing Manager at Blue Cedar Homes, commented: “All of the furniture within our showhomes is new and unused and often in perfect condition. So, when we couldn’t use it again to dress another showhome it made perfect sense to sell these items for donations or as furniture donations for the charities to sell on to increase their funds.”

Exeter Guide Dogs, who received a furniture donation from Blue Cedar Homes, said: “We were lacking a room where we could sit comfortably and relax to have lunch or coffee, or to greet visitors, or to have informal catch ups. Now, thanks to Blue Cedar Homes donating us the lovely sofa, cabinet and standard light along with some great pictures, we have somewhere cosy to go which replicates a home environment for our dogs too, for them to have a break.”

Blue Cedar Homes offers a bespoke collection of age-exclusive and beautifully designed homes for the over 55s. For more information about Blue Cedar Homes’ current developments Orcombe Gardens, Exmouth and Holden Gardens, Wedmore, contact the Blue Cedar Homes team on 01392 369704 or visit www.bluecedarhomes.co.uk.
