Chagford Swimming Pool

Find it: half a mile from Chagford, located at Rushford TQ13 8DA


Open throughout the summer season (May-September) every afternoon, Chagford Swimming Pool is one of Devon’s largest river fed, freshwater pools. Whatever your ability and fitness, the 34m pool caters for all levels. There are also adult only (over 50’s) sessions. The pool is within 10 minutes’ walk of the town but offers free parking as well. Run by the local community, the pool includes showering and changing facilities and a café serving refreshments and ice creams to restore swimmers between lengths.

Chagford Bowling Club

Find it: Mill Street, Chagford TQ13 8AW


Situated in the centre of Chagford with easy access, the Bowling Club is a small but bustling community hub catering for mixed abilities. The bowls season runs from April until September each year and the club welcomes new members throughout the season to join its lively social scene.

Castle Drogo – National Trust

Find it: 2 miles from Chagford at Drewsteignton EX6 6PB


The last castle to be constructed in England and the first 20th century property to be acquired by the National Trust, Castle Drogo offers a fascinating insight into the lives of the Drewe family. Overlooking the River Teign, Castle Drogo is an ideal starting point for beautiful walks across Piddledown Common and along the river to Fingle Bridge. The onsite restaurant serves up delicious home-cooked lunches, light snacks and children’s options. Dogs welcome within the estate grounds.

With rolling hills on every side, the beautiful Chagford cricket ground rests between Nattadon and Meldon Tors. Find it: 4 miles from Chagford at The Old Bus Stop, Court Street, Moretonhampstead TQ13 8LG
